FOOD IS MEDICINE
Eating healthy doesn't have to be hard! I'm a full-time working mom of two young kids, so I know how daunting meal planning can be. But what's even more intimidating is thinking that we have to eat all organic, non-GMO, pasture-raised, free-range, grass-fed, blah-blah-blah. Yep, sometimes those things are important. But let's be realistic- the average family cannot afford or manage eating like that all of the time. What's more- we want to eat food that tastes GOOD! And throw in the fact that our lives are super busy- we need food that's easy!

Not too long ago, I was going through a period of feeling pretty bad. No energy, ocular migraines, lots of inflammation, aches and pains, you name it. Pile major stress on top of that and it was a recipe for feeling sick all of the time. No doctor could really give me any answers beyond offering to prescribe some pretty major drugs. So I finally took control of the things I COULD control. And that was food!
Cue the decision to cut out grains and sugar. Within one month, my energy came back, the migraines went away, and the aches and pains lessened. Food really is medicine and that was all the proof I needed to keep going.

So along the way I've researched, experimented, learned, and even failed. But cooking is my JAM and I'm here to share with you the recipes I've found or created that have fit into my family's busy life. All it takes is a little time to prep and plan and you can do it too!

The recipes you will find on my blog contain NO grains of any sort or NO sugar- including maple syrup, honey, etc. For baking, I mainly use almond or coconut flour as well as sweeteners such as erythritol or stevia. The main goal here is to use ingredients that are low on the glycemic index and that will not cause a high spike in insulin. They are all considered keto friendly or low-carb.

AND here's my favorite part:
Each recipe post is as to-the-point as I could possibly make it. Nothing drives me more crazy than scrolling endlessly through somebody's life story, or having to read through some long story about a grandmother's recipe, or navigating through a bunch of ads, or seeing unnecessary step-by-step photos and whatever else junk is there. Just give me the recipe and one photo of the end product! Have fun checking things out and feel free to comment on something if you make it!

*Note: Most of the recipes are created on my own and if they're not, I've provided the link where you can find it.
