Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented tea drink.  It is known as a beverage to have originated in China and is popular for its health benefits.  Sweetened tea is fermented with a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) and then flavored as desired with fruit, juice, herbs or spices.  The types of tea used in fermentation vary but a couple of the most common is black and/or green tea.  The final product contains lots of probiotics which health improve healthy gut bacteria.  Store bought kombucha can be pricey and full of sugar!  Brewing your own is much more cost effective.  And to avoid excess sugar, I allow my kombucha to ferment for nearly double what many people do so the SCOBY eats up more of the sugar and I choose low-sugar flavorings.  If you are interested in learning more about kombucha or learning how to make your own, please message me!
